How 4gatherers works
4gatherers is built for real conversations, not more screen time. Here's how a nearby hello becomes an in-person meeting.
1. Choose when you're discoverable
Discovery is off by default. Turn it on when you're comfortable meeting people nearby. The app needs your device location and an internet connection. Other eligible users in range can see your current reported position before you exchange pings. Pause when you're done.
2. Find people around you
The nearby list shows other adults who are actively sharing their location and who have not blocked you. A fixed map keeps the focus on where people are relative to you without offering an endless feed or a public travel history.
3. Exchange a quick hello
Tap someone's profile to send a ping. They can reciprocate only while you're both eligible and nearby. Requests expire quickly; an unanswered ping is not a message thread.
4. Find one another, then put the phone away
After you both ping, a live direction and distance display helps you find one another. The pairing is temporary. A ping is not proof that you met in person: both people can confirm a real meeting before it appears in a personal monthly recap.
What happens near homes?
Our server suppresses discovery inside mapped OpenStreetMap residential areas. GPS and map data have limitations, so you can always pause sharing yourself. Review our safety guide and privacy information before your first meetup.
